How do I apply for an Oman e-visa for a minor?

The procedure for applying for an e-visa for a minor travelling to Oman is similar to that for adults, but there are some important specificities to bear in mind.

Steps in the online application

  1. Access the official website or via a specialist agency
  2. Register as a user by clicking on "Register as user".
  3. Log in with the username (e-mail address) and password you have created
  4. Fill in the online visa application form
  5. Pay the visa fee (20 Omani rials for a stay of up to 30 days)

It is crucial to note that the application must be made by a parent or legal guardian on behalf of the minor.

Documents required for the application

To complete the e-visa application for a minor, the following documents are required:

  • Minor's valid passport (valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival in Oman)
  • Colour passport photo of the minor
  • Colour copy of the minor's passport
  • Parent's passport
  • E-visa for parent(s)

Special provisions for minors

Authorisation to leave the country

Since 15 January 2017, an authorisation to leave the country has been compulsory for any French minor travelling without being accompanied by a person exercising parental authority. This document must be presented when applying for an e-visa and on arrival in Oman.

Travelling with a single parent or a third party

If the minor is travelling with only one parent or an adult who is not their legal guardian, it is strongly recommended that they provide written authorisation from the other parent or both parents, as appropriate (in English or Arabic).

Visa costs and validity

The cost of an e-visa for a minor is the same as for an adult:

  • 20 Omani rials for a stay of up to 30 days
  • Free for stays of less than 14 days (on arrival at Muscat airport)

The e-visa is valid for 1 month from the date of issue. It is advisable to apply in the month before departure.

Additional considerations

Travel insurance

It is strongly recommended that you take out medical and repatriation insurance, which is well established in Oman, for the minor's stay.

Age restrictions

There are no specific age restrictions for minors applying for an e-visa to Oman. However, unaccompanied minors may be subject to special attention from the Omani authorities.

Pre-departure check

Before travelling, it is essential to check that all documents are in order:

  • printed e-visa
  • Valid passport
  • Authorisation to leave the country
  • Travel insurance
  • Emergency contact details for the embassy in Muscat
